Asked Questions About DB Hunting Ranch Where is your ranch located and
where do we meet up to get there? Our
ranch in located in Burnet County near the
towns of Bertram and Oatmeal, Texas.
Traditionally, we meet for morning and
evening hunts at Big's, a large Shell gas
station and store on the Westbound side of
HWY 29 in the town of Bertram. From Austin,
take 183 North to HWY 29 and head West
through Liberty Hill and Betram will be the
next town on Hwy 29 heading West. The

Most all of our exotic game hunts are fully-guided “safari -style” spot and stalk hunts and can be done during just about any time of the day. Our hog hunts “Semi-Guided” and are almost always done from our custom hunting blinds over corn feeders during early morning and late evening, when hogs are most the active. Travel will be provided from our camp area to the field and back on all hunts with one of our friendly hunting guides. All exotic hunts have a “guaranteed shot opportunity” meaning that your guide will ensure you get a shot at what you are perusing during your hunt. Guide tips/gratuities are not included in the price of the hunt but are graciously accepted and appreciated. Are there any “Trophy” or “Kill Fees”? No. Many ranches charge a day fee and an additional “trophy fee” or “kill fee” if you harvest an animal during your hunt. Our hunts are all inclusive and include your hunting guide and travel from the camp to the field and back. Suggested gratuity for hunting guides is 20% of the cost of the hunt.
Our ranch located on some prime Texas Hill Country land featuring thick wooded acreage. Most shooting distances from our custom archery blinds are 20-25 yards. Most shooting distances from our rifle stands are under 100 yards. We encourage hunters to bring extra corn or protein feed during your hunt as a supplement to what we have in the field.
Absolutely! Ask us about doing a “Combo Hunt” when setting up your next hunt. We can put a hunting package together for you and/or your group. Our most popular “Combo Hunts” are Hog/Ram Combos, Hog/Exotic Doe Combos, or Exotic Doe/Ram Combos. If you see something during your hunt you might like to pursue that day or on a future, just ask your guide!
What should I plan to bring with me? Most
would suggest the following as a basic list:
Texas Hunting License (Required for all
hunting), Hunting Clothing, Rain gear (if
needed), Weapon and Ammo, Ice Chest, Extra
Corn/Protein, Scent Elimination Spray,
Knife/Gloves for cleaning game (or we can do
that for a nominal fee), Water/Beverages/Snacks,
and Camera. How do you handle cleaning/processing game after the hunt? We have a cleaning station outfitted with water, electricity, and winch/gambrel set-ups at our camp area you may use at no additional cost, should you would like to clean your own game after your hunt. Otherwise, your guide would be more than happy to clean your harvested game animals. We have great relationships with both meat processors and taxidermy services in the immediate area. Just ask your hunting guide and we will take care of the details. We encourage hunters to make arrangements for payment and delivery directly with the taxidermist and/or meat processor of your choice or our recommendation as these are third-party businesses and are not directly affiliated with DB Hunting Ranch.
If you love the outdoors and want a camping adventure, we have a basic kitchen with running water and electricity as well as a BBQ Pit and campfire ring. Our bunkhouse sleeps 4-5 people and is outfitted with both A/C and Heating. Most hunters who stay with us report the accommodations are basic and cozy. We also have a wonderful relationship with a local hotel right down the road and have a discounted rate available for hunters who choose to stay there instead.
